Today’s letter is from Joyce in Toronto, Canada, who writes:
Dear Dr. Robyn,
I was struck by the fact that you chose “charity” as the word of the month in August… I am embarrassed to say that the older my children get, the more stuff they seem to accumulate. I guess we shouldn’t wait until the holidays to clean out our closets?–Joyce
Dr. Robyn provides 6 Tips to teach children and teens to be more charitable. We’d love to hear how you have taught your children or the children you teach about the Powerful Word, charity. What has helped them to give more and take less?

Wanting to talk to you about an article of teaching compassion to children.
I like the tips in this video – particularly encouraging your kids to split their income (whether it’s allowance, chore money, or outside work money) between spending, saving, and giving. One of my favorite charitable outlets for kids online is DonorsChoose.org – it’s a great way for them to experience the philanthropic process from selection through to feedback. More details here:
