There was a young black female singer/songwriter interviewed on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz on NPR years ago. She played acoustic guitar and her lyric was “God didn’t make no mistake on me.” I cannot remember the name of the song or the artist and I cannot find my copy of the cd. It was a great song of encouragement about self image. Do you know the one I mean?

Great song…if you can get a good list, maybe it’s worth the effort to put together a compilation CD. How unique wouold it be to have a CD of nothing but positive energy?

It’s not necessarily a body-image song, but “Fighter” by Christina Aguilera is certainly a girl power song. It’s about getting blown off or hurt by a guy, but coming out all the better for it.
